Leona Lewis - Career

Leona Louise Lewis is an English singer/songwriter, her rise to fame started when she won the third series of The X Factor. Her debut single, "A Moment like This", was released in December 2006, it became a huge success even setting a new world record in music downloads an amazing 500.000 in only 30 minutes. Not bad for a debut single! The next single, "Bleeding Love," was the best selling single of 2007 in the UK and in March 2008 the single, her first release in the US, became the first by a British female vocalist to top the Billboard Hot 100 since Kim Wilde in 1987. Leona's debut album was released in November 2007 and is entitled Spirit. This album became the fastest selling debut album ever in both the United Kingdom an also in Ireland.

Leona has achieved enormous success in a short amount of time being the fastest selling and at the same time best selling in her genre and category. Following her initial success Leona has won several awards including:

  • The Cosmopolitan: Newcomer of the year award

  • Record of the Year award for "bleeding love"

  • Virgin media music awards 2007 also for "bleeding love"

She was also nominated in several categories for BRIT awards.

This is not a bad resume to show for such a young professional career and we are likely to see much more of Leona in the future as millions of fan's are already eagerly awaiting Leona's next album. Leona Lewis has stated that her musical career is her number one priority, and that she won’t marry before she has established herself on the music scene. Good news for the fans bad news for her boyfriend.
